About The Position

The Project Accounting Specialist serves as a key financial lead within the Copper World Project Team, responsible for ensuring high-level financial integrity, budget accuracy, and cost control. The role acts as the financial bridge between project management, engineering firms, and corporate finance to ensure the project remains compliant and fiscally sound.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, budget tracking, and cost control within a project-based environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting and cost software, Microsoft Office Suite, and a deep understanding of GAAP.
  • Proven track record of reconciling complex accounts and identifying financial discrepancies.
  • Ability to distill complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working specifically within the mining or heavy construction industry.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating directly with third-party engineering firms.
  • Experience with enterprise-level ERP systems or specialized project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Budget & Cost Control: Tracking, analyzing, and reporting on project budgets and expenses; this includes variance analysis to ensure alignment with budget allocations.
  • Month-End Coordination: Managing month-end closing activities in partnership with engineering firms and the finance department to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparing timely financial information and data for management reviews and monthly presentations.
  • Contract Management: Monitoring expenditures, forecasts, and change orders for all existing project contracts.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Providing financial guidance, analytical support, and problem-solving expertise to all project levels.
  • Compliance: Ensuring all financial activities strictly adhere to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), company internal requirements, and broader regulatory standards.
