About The Position

The Project Accountant plays a critical role in supporting both Operations and Finance teams throughout all phases of construction projects. This position ensures accurate financial administration, billing, compliance, and project closeout, acting as a key liaison between project management and accounting functions. The Project Accountant helps drive successful project execution by maintaining up-to-date records, facilitating communication, and providing essential financial support.

Responsibilities

  • Set up new projects in CMiC and Procore, including billing contracts, budgets, and contract documentation.
  • Obtain and validate tax-exempt certificates from client and apply for JHL's certificate, providing to subs and vendors as requested.
  • Add or modify cost codes on jobs as requested by project teams.
  • Support Project Managers (PMs) in creating owner billings directly within CMiC, including review, pulling backup documentation, and posting.
  • Monitor AR collections status and overdue billings, communicating with PMs on timing of collection.
  • Assist with preparing AIA change orders and sub change orders as requested by PMs.
  • Move job costs within and between projects.
  • Assist with certified payroll reporting on government-funded projects.
  • Prepare and provide lien releases for PMs as needed.
  • Support project closeout, including completion of closeout checklist, confirmation of full billing and change order posting, and final cost posting.
  • Review and process subcontractor pay applications.
  • Manage compliance communication with subcontractors and update within Textura.
  • Authorize ACH payments for subcontractors and joint check payments to subs/suppliers.
  • Obtain and file all sub-contractor COIs and update status in Textura.
  • Tracking sub-executed contracts and updating status in Textura.
  • Assist Controller and PMs with owner project audits as needed.
  • Run reports, pull invoices, and perform other tasks as requested by PMs and PEs.
  • Maintain the jobs and PMs list that includes project name, address, PX, PM, PE and Superintendent assigned to the project.
  • Updating subcontract attachments/forms, insurance checklists, Textura guidelines, etc. as needed.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
