About The Position

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to support construction projects. This role is responsible for managing all accounting functions related to construction projects, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll coordination, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting and a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in construction accounting or project accounting required.
  • Familiarity with AIA payment applications and enterprise accounting software.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Positive attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn and support others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of project billing, including gathering supporting documentation and producing accurate invoices.
  • Reconcile project billings monthly and communicate with project managers to ensure accuracy.
  • Process vendor invoices, including coding and routing for approval.
  • Reconcile vendor billing and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support timely payments and financial audits.
  • Ensure subcontractor pay applications are completed and processed correctly.
  • Monitor vendor compliance with insurance, lien waivers, and tax documentation.
  • Input and maintain financial data in accounting software systems.
  • Assist in subcontract management, including drafting and issuing agreements.
  • Support payroll and accounts receivable functions as needed.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status and resolve issues professionally.
  • Prepare and analyze financial information to support decision-making.
  • Participate in other accounting and administrative projects as assigned.
