About The Position

Wold Architects and Engineers, a dynamic, growth-oriented architectural and engineering firm with headquarters in downtown St. Paul, seeks an Project Accountant Manager to oversee and guide our Operations team. This candidate will be excellent in managing staff, written/verbal communication, organization, Microsoft Suite, and time management. As a Project Accountant Manager, you will contribute to the accuracy of our projects, operations, budgets and overall company goals. This position is ideal for someone in Finance and/or Accounting to be a part of a company that positively impacts communities through building design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Operations
  • Entry level MBA or 4 years AEC or other professional services industry experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand increasingly more complex construction business concepts
  • Detail orientation and organizational skills sufficient to support multiple concurrent projects
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, as well as experience with ERP accounting applications
  • Effective communication and active listening skills with those of diverse organizational levels and backgrounds

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Business Administration preferred.
  • Oracle and job costing experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and train the operations team staff. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to develop their skills and ensure accurate and timely project completion.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence.
  • Support the professional development of team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the organization's overall business model, objectives, and key performance indicators.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes that may impact operations.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gain insights into their operations and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, estimators, engineers, to gather financial data, support decision-making, and achieve project goals.
  • Foster effective communication channels to ensure a seamless flow of information across the organization.
  • Understand the factors impacting project costs, identifying, and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Proactively identify challenges within operational processes and develop innovative solutions to address them.
  • Elevate awareness of operational efficiencies and financial implications for timely resolution.
  • Implement process improvements and best practices to streamline financial operations and enhance overall effectiveness.
  • Review and analyze project budgets ensuring conformity with contract terms.
  • Assist in preparing monthly projections, addressing potential cost issues affecting forecasted costs and profitability.
  • Manage project cost accounting activities, including tracking, and analyzing project costs, revenue recognition, and profitability. Review and analyze project financial data, including labor, materials, subcontractor expenses, change orders, and other project-related costs. Provide accurate and timely reporting to management.
  • Assist with annual and special audits as necessary.
