About The Position

SUMMARY: The Project Accountant II is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions and job administration for assigned jobs. The Project Accountant II works closely with Project Managers to monitor all aspects of the financial progress of projects, including the review of contract terms, planning and tracking budgets, reporting, and ensuring all project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected. Reports to the Assistant Controller and Controller. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for project set-up and maintenance, which includes: contract review; subcontract review; cost proposal/project budget review/revision; project number creation and budget entry; billing guideline formation; billing government and private clients; and providing subcontractors with invoice due dates. Responsible for project cost/schedule monitoring, which includes: monitoring of actual vs. financial percent completes; provide suggestions for proactive cost control improvements. Attend monthly project reviews with Regional Managers and Project Managers; and monitor subcontractor actuals costs against the contract terms. Responsible for understanding the areas of compensation and payment clauses; overhead rates; revenue enhancers, and other portions of contracts, which includes basic contract language; flow down provisions from the prime/DB/owner contract. Responsible for accounts receivable, which includes making regular collections calls on assigned projects and informing management of problem accounts. Prepares invoices for all assigned projects on a monthly, interim and milestone basis Assists Project Manager in closing projects and contracts once project is complete and all costs are billed and collected. Conducts final review of all project financials to ensure billings and cost budgets are complete and ready to close. Assists with month-end reconciliation, including unbilled reports. Assists in reviewing, tracking and posting in-house direct expense items. Takes ownership of project administration role, demonstrating initiative in providing creative solutions and process leadership to internal clients. Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • At least six years of experience in Project Accounting or Project Administration in architecture/engineering/construction industry.
  • Prior billing experience with state or government contracts is a must.
  • Accounts receivable experience a must.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office products a must.

  • Deltek Vision experience highly preferred.
