About The Position

We are seeking a Project Accountant II who is passionate about numbers and teamwork to manage dynamic projects and ensure smooth financial operations. This role is crucial for delivering clear, timely invoices to clients and providing essential financial information to internal teams. The Project Accountant II will collaborate closely with project managers, focusing on accurate and timely client invoicing. Key responsibilities include setting up and reviewing new projects in the accounting software, ensuring compliance with client invoicing and contractual requirements, preparing and submitting invoices, and generating basic reports. Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree/ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or relevant experience.
  • Experience in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry required.
  • Experience handling complex billing processes in accordance with DOT regulations is required.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4+ years experience in project billing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Setup new projects and tasks in our accounting software.
  • Verify the setup of projects in BST are in compliance with contract.
  • Prepare draft invoices for Project Managers and collaborate with them to make required changes. Project billing will include a higher level of complexity.
  • Contract billing may include time & material, cost plus fixed fee, lump sum, and fixed unit terms.
  • Monitor/Match expenses charged to projects with the labor charges.
  • Finalize and submit invoices to clients which may include preparing additional spreadsheets, forms and/or assembling expense backup.
  • Provide requested reports for Project Managers to help them manage the financial health of their projects. (Requests for reports beyond the Project Accountant II's capability will be provided by a more senior staff member).
  • Assist in resolution of revenue/variance issues.
  • Assist the collections department and project managers as needed to revise invoices or provide additional information to clients as needed for payment.
  • Digital filing of invoices and backup.
  • Perform other accounting tasks as needed.
