About The Position

An exciting opportunity is available to join Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA), an employee-owned, multi-faceted civil engineering and land surveying company that has built a reputation of civil engineering with a personal approach. We are seeking a Project Accountant I to join our growing Finance team in Vernon Hills or Schaumburg, IL. What you can expect: The Project Accountant I will report to the Division Director and perform a wide variety of billing tasks to ensure invoices are issued in a accurate, timely fashion to our clients. This role is an exempt, salary position with straight overtime. We offer a hybrid work environment. How you will make an impact: Prepare accurate client invoices and send invoices to the Client Manager and Project Manager for approval. Make any necessary invoice corrections provided by the Client Manager and Project Manager and issue timely invoices to clients. Monitor and follow up on outstanding invoices monthly to ensure payments are received timely. Work with Client Managers monthly on project time being held to ensure alignment on time being held. Ensure projects are accurately and timely set up in the accounting software and maintain accurate records throughout the project. Communicate routinely with Client Managers and Project Managers on any billing changes, discrepancies, client questions, or irregularities. Prepare accurate utility billing for local villages. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Billing or accounting experience preferred.
  • Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to resolve billing challenges.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines.
