About The Position

Heartland Traffic Services is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accounting Analyst to support the financial management of projects within pavement marking and traffic control operations. This position works closely with project managers and operations teams to track project costs, manage billing, monitor financial performance, and ensure accurate reporting. This role is critical in helping ensure projects remain profitable, financially accurate, and properly billed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 3-5 years of project accounting or job cost accounting experience preferred
• Construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems used in project-based businesses
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain project records within accounting/ERP systems
• Monitor job costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
• Track project budgets and perform actual vs. budget analysis
• Assist with revenue recognition and cost-to-complete reporting
• Prepare project billing including progress, milestone, and time & material invoices
• Monitor accounts receivable and support collections efforts
• Work with project managers to identify and resolve cost variances
• Assist with project financial reporting and month-end close activities
