About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Sets up and operates single and/or multi-die headers formanufacturing precision aircraft quality fasteners. Conducts a variety of tests on single andmulti-die cold headers to ensure machines function according to specificationsor to determine cause of unit failure. Develops machine-specific and/or part-specific tooling. Assists operators in machine set up. Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies: Reads test schedule, work orders, test manuals,performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determinetesting procedures for selected machines. Tests functional performance of machines under specifiedconditions. Analyzes test results on defective machinery to determinecause of failure. Reads and interprets documents (blue prints, drawing, ormanufacturing work orders), to ascertain what tools and materials are necessaryfor producing products to precision tolerance to aircraft specification. Sets up and operates, on a production basis, all assignedheaders and their related products. Thisincludes settings and adjustments required to produce parts tospecifications. Selects, mounts andaligns tooling attachments and materials in proper order and relationship. Makes all adjustments necessary to produceparts of acceptable quality. Loads machines with raw material and monitors productionrun using measuring devices, such as, comparators, micrometers, calipers andvarious other inspect gauges. Reworks and directs reworking of tooling as needed. Keeps accurate statistical process control records, whenrequired, on each job manufactured, making adjustments during production run asthe SPC data directs. Meets and maintains all productivity levels and qualityrequirements to support departmental goals and schedules. Provides training to departmental personnelfor all aspects of machine set up and operation. Performs minor preventative maintenance on assignedmachines. Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, andfollows safety regulations. Ability to effectively trouble shoot and resolve headingmachinery problems, including set up and operation. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safetyrules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in allunits of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry outinstructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involvingseveral concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and understandblueprints.
  • High school diploma or general education degree(GED).
  • 3-4 years' experience in set upand operation of single and multi-die cold heading machines to produce aircraftquality fasteners; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
