Progressive Care Unit Clinical Nurse Coordinator
About The Position
Lead night shift progressive care operations at a 234-bed acute care hospital in Hermitage, Tennessee (Nashville area), featuring a Level III Trauma Center, Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI, and Primary Stroke Center designation. This PCU Clinical Nurse Coordinator role provides charge nurse leadership for a 34-bed progressive care unit (COVID, Neuro, Pulmonary) with 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratios and rotating weekends (2 per month, Friday-Sunday). The unit cares for patients with chest pain, hypertensive urgency, CVA, TIA, altered mental status, sepsis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous BiPAP, and cardiac drips (cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, lasix). The facility offers clinical ladder opportunities, PCU to ICU pathway, mentor programs, and certification support. Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited program
- Current Tennessee RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
- Previous Charge Nurse experience (required)
- BLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) or CPR required within 30 days of hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required within 30 days of hire
- NIHSS Stroke Certification required within 30 days of hire
- Strong clinical expertise in progressive care, telemetry, and cardiac monitoring
- Ability to work night shift (7PM-7AM) with rotating weekends (2 per month, Friday-Sunday)

- Progressive care or telemetry charge nurse experience
- Experience with stroke patients, cardiac drips, and high-acuity telemetry
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinate all progressive care unit functions during night shift operations.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate, customize, and deliver coordinated care for progressive care and telemetry patients.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing care in accordance with established policies while serving as clinical resource for staff.
- Assist with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient patient flow and seamless care transitions.
- Partner with subject matter experts and leadership to support improved clinical outcomes and service delivery.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and training to improve staff performance and engagement across night shift operations.
- Assist with staff scheduling and ensure appropriate coverage for 34-bed unit with 1:5 ratios.
- Manage patients requiring chest pain monitoring, stroke protocols, hypertensive urgency management, and cardiac drip titrations.
- Support an unparalleled patient experience through clinical excellence and compassionate care delivery.
- Coordinate care for patients with COVID, neurological conditions, and pulmonary diagnoses requiring progressive care monitoring.
- Respond to rapid response and code situations with clinical expertise and leadership.
- Ensure compliance with stroke certification standards and NIHSS protocols for neurological patients.
- Mentor and develop staff through clinical ladder programs and PCU to ICU career pathways.
