Job Title Progress OpenEdge Developer What does a successful Progress OpenEdge Developer do at Fiserv? A successful Progress OpenEdge Developer at Fiserv designs, builds, and maintains reliable software applications that support our business goals and client needs. They partner closely with cross-functional teams to turn requirements into clear technical solutions and high-quality code. They continuously improve existing codebases through testing, debugging, and peer reviews to keep performance strong as priorities evolve.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of software development experience (or equivalent combination of education, related experience, and/or military experience).
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with Progress OpenEdge (e.g., ABL, AppBuilder, Data Dictionary, SmartObjects).
  • 1+ years’ experience with one modern programming language (Java, C, C#, or C++).
  • 1+ years’ experience across SQL databases, cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD & DevOps practices, and Agile delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years’ experience in the financial services industry.
  • 3+ years’ experience building systems using microservices architecture.
  • 3+ years’ experience with containerization (Docker and/or Kubernetes) and performance tuning/optimization, plus OpenEdge REST Services API exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement software applications that support Fiserv business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Code, test, debug, and validate applications to ensure quality and optimal performance.
  • Maintain and enhance existing codebases, including participating in peer code reviews and incorporating feedback.
  • Adapt responsibilities as project demands shift to stay aligned with organizational objectives.
