Requirements

  • Associate's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field OR two years of experience working with persons referred through the legal system.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Transcripts required prior to appointment.
  • Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test.
  • Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coordinating and working with volunteer programs to include scheduling, managing waiting lists and having professional interactions with community partners.
  • Experience in interpreting and enforcing laws, rules, regulations, and processes, reviewing, and evaluating administrative records and reports.
  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish desired and assessed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate programs and activities to include special events, clubs, community partner programs and NDCS-facilitated programs.
  • Recruit, onboard, and oversee community partners at the facility level, ensuring compliance with NDCS policies and tracking participation for ACA Outcome Measures.
  • Maintain accurate records by updating rosters, tracking inmate and community partner participation hours, and compiling monthly reports for administration.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as submitting paperwork to national organizations, collecting and submitting club dues, and assisting with club budgets.
  • Manage program supplies and inventory, including submitting and verifying orders, maintaining inventory, and ensuring items comply with institutional guidelines.
  • Respond to correspondence from the incarcerated population and ensure equitable access and opportunities across all programs and clubs.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support and enhance club and community partner initiatives.
