The Programming Coordinator at Hebrew SeniorLife is responsible for planning and coordinating a variety of educational, recreational, cultural, social, and multigenerational programs for seniors. This role aims to enhance the quality of life for residents across four Brookline Housing Authority locations by ensuring smooth operations of community programs and fostering engagement among residents. The coordinator will work closely with the Community Life team and local providers to create a vibrant community atmosphere.

  • Plans and coordinates educational, recreational, cultural, social, and multigenerational programs.
  • Partners with local providers to bring in group programming for non-English speaking residents.
  • Designs, develops, and distributes a monthly newsletter and weekly programming calendar.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with the community to enhance programming.
  • Coordinates and executes all audio/visual duties related to programs.
  • Tracks and stays within the Community Life budget.
  • Maintains flexibility to alter plans based on participant engagement.
  • Promotes special events through intra- and inter-departmental collaboration.
  • Encourages resident involvement by holding program meetings for feedback and planning.
  • Interacts positively with residents, families, guests, and staff.
  • Ensures timely response to vendor inquiries.
  • Coordinates and participates in the set-up and breakdown of activities and events.
  • Encourages residents to assume leadership roles in the community.
  • Creates an open system for residents to access local community resources.
  • Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Uses creative problem-solving to resolve conflicts.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in implementing programs that fulfill psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Computer literacy with experience in Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Creative, energetic, patient, sensitive, and professional demeanor.
  • Compassion for and desire to work with a senior population.
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to innovate and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, conscientious, and results-oriented attitude.
  • Optimistic and positive demeanor with excellent communication skills.
  • Motivated to learn and flexible to change.
  • Ability to work some weekends and evenings as necessary.
