In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program. BAE Systems is seeking a Programmer Intern for Summer 2026. Join our Software Solutions Team within our IT Program Area and become a member of a diverse, enthusiastic, and highly productive team, where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding projects by providing system administration support for COTS/GOTS enterprise software in support of the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs, the sea-based leg of the U.S. nuclear triad.

  • Building and coding applications and/or modules using languages such as Java, C#, visual basic, ABAP, PHP, SQL, XTML, etc.
  • Preparing operating instructions, compiling documentation of program development, and analyzing system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls
  • Providing patches and upgrades to existing systems
  • Building add-on modules using application program language
  • Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore) towards a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or other related degree
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant field of specialization
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, etc.)
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Experience with Java, PHP, C/C++/C#, SQL, Object-Oriented Analysis & Design
  • Experience with Java development
