About The Position

Missouri Valley College has an opening for a creative programmer analyst, responsible for designing, developing, coding, testing, and maintaining a variety of dashboards and reports within Argos and also Microsoft Power Bi, accessing SQL databases within our Ellucian Colleague Student Information System (SIS). You will work closely with end-users, and other team members to identify business needs and translate them into technical solutions. Programmer Analyst is also responsible for developing computer software applications in C#.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages C# and Microsoft T-SQL.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards within Argos.
  • Experience using Ellucian Colleague UI and Self Service.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Power Bi and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database management systems.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and design efficient, effective software solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with web development technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET).
  • Understanding of programming languages such as Java, C++, Python is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies and life cycles (Agile, Waterfall).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with department heads, managers, and other stakeholders to fully understand the tasks that must be accomplished by the software or report requested.
  • Ensures accuracy of data.
  • Serves as point of contact for Ellucian Colleague administration including Self-Service.
  • Administrator for the D2/ILP integration with Brightspace.
  • Co-manages College's GitHub repository.
  • Creates SQL queries to provide ad-hoc reports, analysis and datasets based on business needs.
  • Develops and designs standard reports, custom reports and dashboards using SQL data query and reporting tools.
  • Leads data discovery, data verification and mapping.
  • Designs, or assists with design of graphical user interface (GUI) as needed.
  • Manage data imports into Colleague.
  • Collaborates with systems analysts to obtain and analyze project specifications and flow charts.
  • Develops a flow chart of data input & potential problems that could emerge in a given environment; creates contingencies within the program for these possibilities, including error messages or alternate data flows.
  • Tests programs; coordinates and observes beta testing of new or updated programs.
  • Debugs or corrects any issues discovered during beta testing.
  • Issues stable release.
  • Serve as point of contact to submit Colleague related support tickets with Ellucian.
  • Perform Colleague software updates including SA Valet and related applications.
  • Upload applications from EMP into Colleague utilizing an internal import process.
  • Analyzes, reviews, and revises programs as needed to increase operating efficiency or adapt programs to new requirements.
  • Resend welcome email information to students as needed.
  • Develops and maintains documentation of program development and revisions.
  • Provides training and support to end users (resetting passwords, 2-Step verification, account access).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
