The PowerBuilder Developer position is a contract role lasting 12+ months, located in Lansing, MI. The job requires a hybrid work schedule, with mandatory onsite presence two days a week, specifically on Wednesdays. The other onsite day can be flexible. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate at their own expense. The role involves working with PowerBuilder Development (version 7 or higher) and requires advanced skills in T-SQL query writing for Sybase and MS SQL Server databases. Daily activities include data management, source control, unit testing, documentation, testing, production support, change management, software development, and ensuring data integrity.

  • Research and modify PowerBuilder source code to document the steps the application uses with data.
  • Write complex T-SQL queries to pull data from Sybase and MS SQL Server databases.
  • Develop processes to extract and manipulate data to support data migration and data cleansing.
  • Perform data profiling, data mapping, data manipulation, validation, and analysis.
  • Work with source control technologies such as TFS/Azure DevOps or GIT.
  • Document and perform unit testing to support program changes.
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation for programs, system specs, and flow diagrams.
  • Support test scenarios in collaboration with the client and/or Business Analyst.
  • Analyze and document identified problems to determine root cause and provide root cause analysis.
  • Follow change management procedures and provide input to execute changes.
  • Some college preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline.
  • Current experience in PowerBuilder Development (version 7 or higher).
  • High level of SQL query writing skills.
  • Experience in data management and data profiling.
  • Experience with source control technologies such as TFS/Azure DevOps or GIT.
  • Experience in unit testing and documentation.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
