Program Technician - Leadership

University of Arkansas System•Little Rock, AR

About The Position

The Program Technician - Leadership will support two programs that have been identified by funders as critical for promoting careers and career experiences for college and high school students interested in careers in Agricultural-technology (Ag-tech) and Extension. The Ag-tech Career Exploration program introduces 4-H and high school youth to careers in ag-technology and careers in the field of Ag-tech with employers in the state. This project addresses a significant void in educating high schools students about the many high-tech careers available in agriculture. Students and 4-Hers from across the state can apply for this program at no cost and get the opportunity to interact with potential employers and educators. In addition, they will travel domestically and abroad. Likewise, the Experiential Scholars program provides career exploration for undergraduate students through paid internships in three focus areas - Water and Soil Conservation, Community Development, and Food Nutrition and Health. The Program Technician will provide support for the program to move participants forward in reaching their goals. Leveraging the base knowledge of communication and project management required to coordinate both of these programs is an efficient use of skill and energy to develop and grow the two, which simultaneously work toward growth and sustainability of the agricultural industry in Arkansas.
