ABOUT THE ROLEAvivo’s Ending Homelessness Division provides accessible, person-centered pathways to housing and stability for individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and the impacts of trauma. Our work is grounded in harm reduction, recovery-oriented systems of care, and trauma-informed service delivery. The Program Support Specialist provides essential operational and logistical support to Avivo Village North Loop, the Participant Wellness & Safety Program, and other Ending Homelessness programs. This includes managing high-volume inventory, ensuring health and safety supplies are available, supporting overdose prevention supply tracking, and coordinating logistics across multiple locations. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and motivated by work that directly supports participant safety and stability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One or more years of experience working with high-volume inventory, ordering, or data systems.
  • One or more years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, or mental health recovery.
  • Lived experience will be valued and considered for up to one year of the experience requirement.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive and trauma-informed services.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work in crisis situations and adapt to changing needs.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and willingness to learn internal systems.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, clean driving record, and access to a personal vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in behavioral science or a related field.
  • Experience in shelter, wellness, safety, or harm-reduction programs.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices supporting individuals experiencing homelessness or substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure essential supplies are consistently stocked to support daily shelter operations, crisis response, and rapid unit transitions.
  • Manage ordering, organizing, stocking, and tracking supplies across multiple sites, including overdose reversal materials.
  • Track supply distribution data and analyze trends to inform ordering and reporting.
  • Collaborate with program staff, leadership, community partners, and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support improvements in supply distribution systems through communication and problem solving.
  • Safely dispose of biohazard materials with appropriate documentation.
  • Participate in emergency response efforts, including overdose response when required.
  • Prepare for and support audits, site visits, and compliance reviews.
  • Assist with contract requirements, allowable purchases, financial documentation, and reporting.
  • Maintain culturally responsive and person-centered service aligned with Avivo’s values.
  • Participate in required meetings and cross-program collaboration.
  • Support Avivo’s commitment to undoing racism and reducing disparities.
