We are seeking a Program Support Services Junior to support the Third Party Liability Program for the United States Coast Guard in Washington, D.C. As the Program Support Services Junior, you will be responsible for reviewing and providing analysis of admission, disposition and injury reports generated by the Composite Health Care Systems (CHCSII)/Integrated Health Information System (IHiS), Tricare contractors, DoD and U.S. Coast Guard Military Treatment Facilities.

Requirements

  • The ability to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
  • An associate degree from a college or university accredited by a regional or national accrediting body.
  • A minimum of (4) years of experience working in a general office setting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, while demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to examine problems, including identifying important factors, collecting relevant data, and suggesting appropriate solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Compile data from the medical acute care clinics, emergency rooms, and other clinics where patients were treated as a result of a motor vehicle accident or personal injury. Also, the contractor shall investigate medical information on the Emergency Treatment Records (ETRs) to ensure that all sources of recovery are forwarded to the U.S. Coast Guard Claims and Litigation Division (CG-LCL).
  • Interview beneficiaries and initiate correspondence to obtain necessary insurance information regarding the injury/accident including the civilian attorney's name, if applicable and then consolidates the information from the patient, accident reports, and medical records into a tort case file.
  • Explain and answer questions from patients and insurance companies on statutes, regulations, and matters applicable to the TPL process. The Contractor shall assist patients in the completion of required forms and documents.
  • Receive and answer requests for information, medical invoices, and liens for TPL claims from civilian attorneys, military legal offices, and government agencies.
  • Draft correspondence, file records, make copies of related correspondence, answer related phone calls and transfer calls to appropriate personnel, perform data entry by way of MS Access and utilize the task feature in MS Outlook to maintain Task List generated by the Government Program Manage
  • Prepare FMCRA liens to include billing forms and UB92 insurance forms, compile all medical and legal documentation into a case file and forwards completed case files to the Claims and Litigation office at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters or military legal office having jurisdiction over the case, which adjudicates and collects the reimbursement.
  • Enter each open case into a computer tracking system.
  • Provide support to generate medical liens and route for review and approval and determine if TPL case meets current threshold guidelines.
  • Establish new case files, maintain existing case files and utilize US Coast Guard information services to establish and maintain case files.
  • Review incoming mail and faxes received to determine priority and process, route for action, scan, and email outgoing correspondence.
