The Program Support Assistant (OA) position at the Department of Defense is responsible for administering various programs and serving as the primary source of information for onboarding, government purchase card management, records management, scheduling, and travel administration. The role involves assisting personnel with timekeeping, absence requests, and providing guidance on manpower requirements. The assistant will also support senior management in administrative functions and identify opportunities for process improvements through automation.

  • Administers programs related to onboarding, government purchase card, records management, scheduling, and travel administration.
  • Serves as the point of contact for newly assigned personnel, orienting them on organizational functions and training requirements.
  • Assists personnel with absence and premium time requests, submits timecards, and maintains timekeeping hierarchy.
  • Plans, administers, and monitors manpower resource requirements and maintains manpower documents.
  • Provides guidance to supervisors regarding military and civilian manpower requirements and organizational structure.
  • Stays updated on personnel issues and explains personnel-related requirements to supervisors and managers.
  • Assists senior management in managing administrative support program functions.
  • Identifies and implements administrative processes for improvement through automation.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service, including assisting with office administration and business operations, timekeeping, travel, and administrative requirements.
  • Experience drafting correspondence and reports with correct grammar and punctuation.
  • Proficiency in using office automation software to edit and format documents and update databases or spreadsheets.
  • A qualified typist is required.
  • Experience with the Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Familiarity with DoD Security Cooperation Workforce certification requirements.
