The Program Support Assistant - Credentialing Specialist at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the Credentialing and Privileging Office. This role involves monitoring compliance with credentialing processes, managing provider applications, and ensuring that all documentation meets technical requirements. The position is supervised by the Credentialing and Privileging Manager and is essential for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of credentialing operations within the VA Medical Center.

  • Monitoring compliance and timely updates of time-limited credentials.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in credentialing.
  • Receiving and reviewing VetPro reports to identify problem areas.
  • Managing initial provider applications for Non-LIPs credentialing.
  • Ensuring application packages meet technical requirements per provider specialty.
  • Coordinating incoming data and documents from various sources.
  • Analyzing and managing issues related to documentation compliance.
  • Conducting final appointments in the VetPro database after thorough validation of data and documents.
  • Developing and providing routine and special reports as requested by the C&P manager/Analyst.
  • Maintaining records and reconciling monthly charge statements for credentialing-related expenses.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-06 level in the federal service.
  • Experience in verifying information in healthcare provider files.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using software applications for data entry and retrieval.
  • Experience with VetPro or similar credentialing databases.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
