The Program Support Assistant - Credentialing Specialist plays a crucial role in the Credentialing and Privileging Office at a VA Medical Center, providing administrative and technical support to ensure compliance and efficiency in credentialing operations. This position involves monitoring credential expiration, managing provider applications, and serving as a subject matter expert in credentialing processes.

  • Monitor compliance and timely updates of expiration of time-limited credentials.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in credentialing.
  • Receive and review VetPro reports to identify problem areas.
  • Manage initial provider applications for Non-LIPs credentialing.
  • Ensure application packages meet technical requirements per provider specialty.
  • Determine processes for coordinating incoming data and documents.
  • Analyze and manage issues related to documents that do not meet requirements.
  • Conduct final appointments in the VetPro database after thorough validation of data.
  • Develop and provide routine and special reports as requested by the C&P manager/Analyst.
  • Maintain records and reconcile monthly charge statements for credentialing-related expenses.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements for GS-07 position.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-06 level in the Federal service.
  • Experience with health care provider files verification.
  • Knowledge of the Privacy Act and confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in software applications for data entry and retrieval.
