Program Supervisor IV performs administrative and supervisory program work supporting our verbal de-escalation efforts and our therapeutic interventions to staff that work in a hospital setting. This position establishes and reinforces in-depth verbal de-escalation tactics and therapeutic interventions training tailored for front-line and patient care staff, develops and approves schedules, monitors and evaluates cross training of personnel, supervises and trains staff, and actively tracks and monitors all staff training sessions to ensure that the principles and techniques covered are continuously practiced and reinforced in daily interactions between staff and individuals. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to program area.
  • Knowledge of the TIERS program
  • Knowledge of expressive therapies – Art, Dance, Movement, Drama, Music & Recreation
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations and the ability to use e-mail and create basic written reports
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Skill in communicating both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to manage program activities.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives.
  • Ability to prepare concise reports; and to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks independently.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years’ progressive experience in a lead and/or supervisory role, managing/supporting, and providing programming.
  • Or
  • Five (5) years of work experience in programing services for persons with mental health diagnoses, including at least two (2) years in a role with duties relating to evidenced based treatments.

  • Two years of experience leading and/or supervising employees is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attends work on a regular basis and may be asked to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides in-depth verbal de-escalation and therapeutic interventions training tailored for front-line and patient care staff to effectively manage and diffuse potentially volatile situations, enhancing the overall safety and well-being of both employees and patients. Supervise, train, and evaluate staff regarding verbal de-escalation and therapeutic interventions. Enhances and maintains, a comprehensive library of technical materials related to safety. This library serves as a valuable resource for ongoing staff education, providing up-to-date information and best practices that support a safe and well-informed work environment.
  • Develops and approves schedules, monitors, and evaluates cross training of personnel. Provides guidance to ensure adequate interventions are provided to staff. This involves regular observations and assessments to confirm that staff members are effectively applying their training in real-world scenarios. Additionally, maintains a detailed log of all incidents and prepares comprehensive incident reports. These reports are used to analyze patterns, identify areas for improvement, and enhance overall safety practices within the facility.
  • Supervises staff and provides technical assistance. Processes performance plans and employee evaluations on a timely basis in CAPPS to ensure that all assigned shop and craft personnel receive annual performance reviews. Ensures employees complete all required training in a timely manner. Interviews prospective employees and makes recommendations for hire of the best candidates to ensure only the most qualified individuals are selected.
  • Actively tracks and monitors all staff training sessions to ensure that the principles and techniques covered are continuously practiced and reinforced in daily interactions between staff and individuals. This involves regular observations and assessments to confirm that staff members are effectively applying their training in real-world scenarios. Additionally, maintains a detailed log of all incidents and prepares comprehensive incident reports. These reports are used to analyze patterns, identify areas for improvement, and enhance overall safety practices within the facility.
  • Introduces verbal de-escalation training as a key component of all New Employee Orientation (NEO) classes, ensuring that new staff members are equipped with essential conflict management and resolution skills from the start. This foundational training helps new employees handle challenging situations effectively and safely. Additionally, maintains, or assists in maintaining, a comprehensive library of technical materials related to safety. This library serves as a valuable resource for ongoing staff education, providing up-to-date information and best practices that support a safe and well-informed work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
