About The Position

Performs routine administrative and supervisory program work. Work involves assisting in establishing program goals and objectives; assisting in developing program guidelines, policies, and procedures; assisting in developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving program goals; assisting in evaluating program activities; and supervising the work of others. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
  • One year full-time, wage-earning auditing, program administration, technical review, technical program support, program evaluation, data analysis, or criminal justice experience. Fifteen semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for each six months of experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and management.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to develop program goals and objectives.
  • Skill to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill to plan work in order to meet established guidelines.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment.
  • Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.
  • Skill to train and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the Inmate Grievance Program
  • Monitors grievances for investigative completeness and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and agency policies, procedures, and timeframes.
  • Participates in conducting investigations and reviews of inmate grievances and facilitates resolution
  • Works with program staff in determining trends and resolving technical problems
  • Advises staff in evaluating the merit of grievances
  • Administers the grievance caseload.
  • Assists in the development of program guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Assists in performing data research and in providing inmate grievance statistics and information
  • Assists in the preparation of correspondence, reports, studies, and specialized research projects.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to unit grievance investigators on program services and inmate grievance issues.
  • Supervises the work of others.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
