This position will primarily work with individuals with Intellectual and/or Development Disabilities (IDD) attending Individualized Skills and Socialization (ISS) sites. This position will ensure all clients have access to on-site and off-site activities that are meaningful, allow for peer and community integration, and improve the daily life of the clients served by Central Counties Services. This position will report to the Program Supervisor for all center-operated ISS sites, but will be responsible for the daily supervision of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) assigned to Temple Training Center. This position will provide support to staff, as needed, at other center ISS sites. Performs routine (journey-level) administrative and supervisory program work. Work involves assisting in establishing program goals and objectives; assisting in developing program guidelines, procedures, and policies; assisting in developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving program goals; and assisting in evaluating program activities. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Supports the implementation of person-centered goals related to independent living, skill development, community engagement, and socialization.
  • Develops and coordinates community integration activities that reinforce independence, communication, and social skill development. Consideration for ensuring safety, accessibility, and meaningful participation for all clients is required for community integration.
  • Ensures DSPs document progress toward individual outcomes and assists in adjusting support strategies as needed.
  • Ensures DSPs maintain accurate and timely service documentation, attendance records, and progress notes.
  • Works closely with the HCS Program Manager to deliver Personal Attendant Services/Habilitation (PAS/HAB) for individuals in the community or their home environment, including weekly Fun Night and special events throughout the year. Also works closely with the HCS Program Manager to deliver Independent Living Skills Training to individuals residing in nursing facilities.
  • Ensures all service delivery environments encourage social engagement and collaboration, promote freedom of movement, and provide multiple opportunities each day for clients to participate in various activities of their choice.
  • Provides direct supervision to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) assigned to Temple Training Center. Assist ISS Program Supervisor by providing mentorship and support to DSPs delivering services at Killeen and Cove Training Center. Is familiar with all sites in order to ensure compliance with all HHS, ISS, and Center requirements.
  • Provides ongoing training on community integration strategies, person-centered practices, positive behavior supports, and HHSC standards.
  • Conducts regular team meetings and individual staff coachings.
  • Conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions for vacancies.
  • Ensures ISS programming complies with HHSC rules, waiver program requirements, and agency policies.
  • Participates in audits, quality assurance reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Maintains required ratios, health and safety standards, and emergency preparedness procedures.
  • Assist with developing policies, procedures, and program improvements to enhance service quality.
  • Works with IDD-Quality Management to problem solve data and/or billing questions. Ensures timely and accurate completion of corrections requested.
  • Works with IDD-Quality Management to meet staff training needs.
  • Ensures staff utilize the Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) correctly for required services. Works closely with HCS Program Manager and IDD-Quality Management to ensure compliance with EVV requirements.
  • Builds partnerships with local community organizations, recreational programs, and volunteer sites to expand community integration opportunities, for all center ISS sites.
  • Works closely with ISS Program Manager to plan, schedule, and facilitate outings that reinforce independence, communication, and social skill development for Temple Training Center and assists with outings at Killeen and Copperas Cove Training Center.
  • Advocates for inclusion by fostering positive relationships between individuals and community members.
  • Collaborates with service coordinators, case managers, guardians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with person-directed plans (PDPs).
  • Identifies barriers to participation and problem-solves to ensure individuals receive appropriate accommodations.
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, trustworthiness, and personal integrity. Regular attendance, dependability, and promptness are required for the agreed upon hours 100% of the time, to ensure consistency and completeness of program’s processes.
  • Professional Development - Successfully complete training required to maintain skill competency and cross training to ensure consistency across program procedures. Complete continuing education as required by professional standards and the Center.
  • Staff member is expected to maintain their mental and emotional well-being as part of their role.   • Frequent daily driving within the catchment area is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have experience working with the IDD population.
  • Knowledge of HCS and General Revenue programming.
  • Knowledge of IDD consumers.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Ability to speak to think creatively in developing community integration activities.
  • Ability to speak to potential community partners about Central Counties Services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers’ license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Communication: Responsible for returning calls from the office phone by 5pm the next business day. Responsible for checking emails daily and responding by 5pm the next business day. Must contact supervisor when out for the day or running more than 15 minutes late. Must indicate on board where they are going and a general time of when they should be returning.
