About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduation with an associate degree in Recreation or a related field, plus one year of experience related to program development and implementation.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of two years.
  • Must possess a valid Class C Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record and working vehicle.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, City officials, media, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Standard First Aid and C.P.R. certifications (desirable but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, market, schedule, implement, conduct, and coordinate Ranch Park activities, programs, and special events.
  • Support City community events and initiatives, including Dripping Springs Night Sky and Bird City efforts.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of the Coyote Kids Nature Camp summer and school year sessions.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of the Nature Rangers at the Ranch After School Care program.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of the Tween Scene program summer and school year sessions.
  • Ensure all events and activities conform to appropriate safety rules.
  • Tend to the health and safety of children in the position's care.
  • Serve as a key component of the safety chain of command and be prepared to render first aid if needed.
  • Encourage youth participation and relationship building among campers and counselors.
  • Lead with confidence, kindness, creativity, and enthusiasm.
  • Work effectively with little supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Transport and/or accompany program and event participants.
  • Coordinate with other organizations and businesses, soliciting donations and building community relationships.
  • Perform day-to-day point of sale transactions using current business operations software.
  • Complete and maintain forms, records, and reports.
  • Provide information to participants and the general public.
  • Ensure proper facility and equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, equipment, and prizes.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees and city officials.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise prudent judgment on sharing information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
