The Program Specialist for Upward Bound Programs at Forsyth Technical Community College plays a crucial role in supporting first-generation, low-income students at risk of academic failure. This position involves providing comprehensive administrative support to the TRIO Upward Bound programs, ensuring program compliance, maintaining program data, and assisting with planning and tracking expenses. The specialist will also connect students with college and community resources, contributing to the overall mission of empowering lives and transforming communities.

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Director of Upward Bound.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Coordinate travel for student trips, including ticket purchases and accommodations.
  • Assist the Director in organizing and maintaining all program expenses.
  • Assist in program planning for student sessions and meetings.
  • Maintain student files and ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations.
  • Manage the program database (Blumen) and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to inform program participants of activities.
  • Assist with yearly program updates, including marketing materials and brochures.
  • Provide direct supervision of work study students.
  • Attend meetings and serve as the recording secretary, preparing and disseminating minutes.
  • Assist with the maintenance of records for all grant participants and activities.
  • Engage with TRIO staff for continuous improvement of program delivery.
  • Attend weekend and evening events as needed.
  • Associate's degree in education, human service, social work or related field.
  • Three years of related experience, preferably with TRIO or similar programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to addressing the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged youth.
  • Effective written, oral, and intercultural communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work or related field.
  • Five plus years of related experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency.
