Under the close supervision of a Program Specialist 3, Program Specialist 4, or other supervisory officer in a State department or agency, as a trainee and productive worker, receives on-the-job training while assisting in the professional, administrative, and analytical work to promote the planning, operation, implementation, monitoring and/or evaluation of human or social service programs, programs serving the socio-economic needs of specific clients populations, or regulatory programs designed to ensure public safety, health and welfare, or protection of the environment; completes assignments which provide practical Program Specialist experience; does other related work. Specific to the Position The Office of Resource Development (ORD) leads the capital development program for the State Parks, Forests & Historic Sites and Fish & Wildlife programs, which involves oversight of the design and construction phases of a diversity of projects including facility renovations, new facility development and construction, health and safety, infrastructure and historic and natural resource focused projects. The Program Specialist Trainee position will contribute to data gathering, processing, analyzing, digitizing, reporting and mapping in support of various capital projects as well as providing mapping of property boundaries and facilities and assisting on internal reviews of projects on State Parks, Forests & Historic Sites and Fish & Wildlife lands. The Trainee will work under the guidance of the Assistant Commissioner’s Office GIS lead, using GIS-based tools to perform queries on various geographic datasets, enter text-based information into a custom database, generate sub-reports, and organize finalized reports.
