About The Position

The Program Specialist I, under general supervision, performs specialist duties for the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) , including prospect research, narrative drafting, budget creation, and data collection, often involving collaboration with program staff and leadership. Salary information: The expected salary for this position is $44,000.00 - $48,000.00 annually. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • State of Texas and/or higher education experience
  • Experience with federal/state grant programs
  • Experience in researching funding, grant writing, proposal development, and/or grant management.
  • Experience in events planning and building relationships
  • Knowledge of Canva or other graphic design applications
  • Grant writing and/or management related certification

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and matches grant opportunities with needs/interests of faculty, staff, and/or administrators.
  • Assists with drafting and editing competitive grant proposals to external funding agencies.
  • Manages the timely submission of grant proposals and ensures compliance with all requirements.
  • Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assists in the preparation of budgets, special reports, and other documents.
  • Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs.
  • Maintains database of grant submissions and funding received.
  • Reconciles each grant account monthly and provides monthly reports.
  • Develops, negotiates, and reviews sub-contracts and sub agreements and prepares them to be signed.
  • Plans, develops, implements, coordinates, and monitors program or services.
