About The Position

Performs routine consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves assisting in planning, developing, and implementing an agency program; and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the public. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
  • Two years full-time, wage-earning case processing, customer service, clerical, administrative support, technical program support, or operational support experience. Fifteen semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for each six months of experience.
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business terminology, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in problem-solving techniques.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment.
  • Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.
  • Skill to plan work in order to meet established guidelines.
  • Skill in the electronic transmission of communications.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Criminal justice experience preferred.
  • Computer operations experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.
  • Skill to type 45 words per minute (with no more than 10 errors) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance work for the State Classification Committee; prepares, interprets, and disseminates information concerning agency programs and procedures; coordinates work with organizational units of the agency; and provides liaison with program staff, other departments, agencies, organizations, officials, and the public.
  • Provides information for determination of parole in absentia eligibility; and responds to requests, correspondence, and inquiries from inmates, staff, other agencies, and the public regarding inmate time, civil lawsuits, and program and administrative rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and other documents; compiles and analyzes data, makes calculations, and prepares reports; and assists in the completion of special projects.
  • Coordinates activities and provides technical assistance in the program area; and develops and maintains filing, record keeping, and records management systems.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
