Under the supervision of a NBA Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for independently conducting audits, leading team audits and investigations. These audits rank as large, complex, and/or sensitive. The purpose of the audit is to determine that taxpayers have correctly self-assessed themselves in accordance with the Bank and Corporation Tax Laws, or to initiate such changes as may be required. The incumbent is expected to conduct audits in an efficient and effective manner. This will require the incumbent to travel to taxpayer locations, including overnight and out of state travel. The incumbent is expected to clearly articulate multifaceted information while acting as a specialized subject matter expert in the area of corporate tax law. Incumbent is expected to maintain the confidentiality of data received or developed during the audit in accordance with the provisions of the Security and Disclosure Manual. The incumbent is expected to work within the framework established by the laws and related legal interpretations administered by the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) and be consistent with the policies and procedures established for guidance within the NBA Bureau and Audit Division. This position is eligible for remote-working based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.
