About The Position

The Program Specialist I will coordinate the activities directly related to two new CRI funded initiatives: Consumer Food Waste Reduction and The Prairie View Mobile Market. This two-year position will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Coordinator II. This position will be responsible for communications with internal units throughout the College and University to coordinate smooth operation of these two initiatives with respect to finances, resources, facilities, personnel matters. This role will also coordinate with Post-doctoral Researchers and graduate students to ensure appropriate resources are available for research activities associated with these initiatives. This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding. The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
  • Excellent social media skills.
  • Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered.
  • One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year.
  • Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience.
  • Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of four years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets, special reports, and other documents.
  • Assists in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring FSRC mobile grocery programs and services.
  • Plans, develops and coordinates specialized programs communications and marketing materials around mobile grocery sales, nutrition education and food waste research to facilitate program goals.
  • Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs.
  • Participates in college wide events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
