The Program Specialist for Community Impact at San Diego Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting the Foundation's mission to improve the quality of life in San Diego communities. This position focuses on the operational and administrative aspects of grantmaking within the Inclusive Growth portfolio, particularly for the Healthy Children & Families and Black Maternal and Infant Health initiatives. The Specialist will coordinate grant processes, support data collection and impact reporting, and enhance team operations, all while working in a hybrid environment that requires regular onsite presence.

  • Coordinate public-facing RFP grantmaking and related processes for Healthy Children & Families (HCF) and Black Maternal & Infant Health (BMIH) programs.
  • Support the planning and coordination of annual check-ins with grantee-partners.
  • Oversee the grant administration process through the creation of grant trackers, grant agreement letters, and related documentation.
  • Track and coordinate grantee check-in timelines and reporting deadlines.
  • Support grantmaking processes and related document development, application review, and approval practices.
  • Maintain and update outreach contact lists for grant-related communications.
  • Coordinate grantee data collection, testimonial gathering, and program-related storytelling.
  • Collect, aggregate, and utilize data to create and maintain program impact reporting.
  • Act as a team expert on current impact data and future impact reporting plans.
  • Support the development and maintenance of department operations guides for process documentation.
  • Plan, evaluate, and improve the efficiency of processes and operations.
  • Utilize Asana to track and maintain project milestone status and communicate status to the team.
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate and track strategic plans and annual operations goals.
  • Implement and maintain departmental communication templates.
  • Partner with Specialists to maintain departmental file organization and related systems.
  • A minimum of 3 years of operations and/or program support experience in a private or community foundation, or position in a corporate, government or nonprofit organization.
  • Healthcare and/or public health experience preferred.
  • Experience with and interest in the social determinants of health, health equity, and/or related causes preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record in developing and utilizing organizational systems with attention to detail, timeliness, and strong planning and record-keeping ability.
  • Ability to work independently and successfully organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet deliverables and deadlines.
  • Professional attitude and demeanor to appropriately represent the organization with both internal and external constituents.
  • Strong emotional intelligence with excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with computer software applications: MS Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
  • Experience with project management software, particularly Asana.
  • Knowledge of and interest in advancing the collective impact model of cross-sectoral collaboration.
