About The Position

Has a primary responsibility of processing scholarship program funds, with a secondary function of providing technical and administrative assistance for other student financial aid programs offered at Wenatchee Valley College. This position supports the mission of the college by providing student services and financial aid assistance to support the success of students in their educational opportunities.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or higher.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft products such as spreadsheets, email and word processing software.
  • Two years' office experience, ideally customer related.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Or, if you do not meet one or more of qualifications listed above but have an applicable combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to use exceptional communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism, empathy, diplomacy, discretion and integrity in interactions with diverse constituencies.
  • Knowledge of procedures and protocol, security and confidentiality.
  • High level of proficiency and accuracy in software packages including word processing, spreadsheets and database applications.
  • Ability to assess situations, exercise independent judgement, resolve issues and coordinate with IT support services when technical issues arise.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PeopleSoft software, particularly ctcLink.
  • Experience creating digital content (such as Word/PDF documents and web and learning management system content as appropriate to the role) in accessible formats.
  • Two years financial aid experience or related experience.
  • Bilingual written and oral in Spanish/English. Comfortable translating and engaging the community in both languages.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft software preferred.
  • Quality: Accurate and thorough, prepare detailed reports, evaluate processes to identify ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Professionalism: Approach others in a tactful manner, react well under pressure, treat others with respect and consideration and follow through on commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Scholarship Coordinator - intake, awarding and disbursement of scholarship programs. Work with WVC Foundation office to assist with scholarship award processing and notification. Monitor and reconcile scholarship budgets and requesting scholarship funds from various donors, banks, agencies and other organizations.
  • File Review and Packaging - Responsible to review and verify student financial aid application information. File review will consist of review and verification of various types of documentation, including but not limited to: tax transcripts and other income information, high school/GED verification, appeals, program/plan forms, revision requests, etc. May exercise professional judgment for special circumstances. Advise and consult students regarding financial aid eligibility and recommend alternative course of action for students that are denied financial aid.
  • Office Operations - Perform data entry of updates and information for tracking and awarding of financial aid. Provide front desk service, answer main phone line and department email. Assist in outreach initiatives to provide current and prospective students with financial aid knowledge.
  • Support office operations based on various miscellaneous needs throughout the school year.
