About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY Perform Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities counseling services for adults with disabilities in a private non-profit. ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS · Extensive knowledge of Job Placement services and best practices. · Consult with manager on short- and long-term goals for your area. · Make routine decisions based on conclusions from previous situations for which precedent is set. · Consult with manager on complex issues not easily evaluated or issues for which there is no precedent. · Oversee day-to-day operations in your assigned areas, provide assistance and guidance. Assist staff to prevent supervisor/service coordinator conflicts. Coordinate the efforts of programs in your area. · Help staff in your area establish work priorities. Receive assignments from manager and assign/train staff in your area according to correct procedures. · Supervise “Associate Professionals” and “Paraprofessionals” as defined by MH/DD/SA and maintain necessary documentation of supervision. · Responsible for all documents, files and reports, ensuring their compliance with established standards. Must ensure that all paperwork is kept up-to-date by you and all staff under your area · Act as a liaison between the staff in your assigned programs and the Program Services Manager. · Train and monitor professional development of staff in the programs assigned to you. · Update and maintain current “Placement Grid Tracker.” · Hold and lead bi-weekly meetings with Placement staff to maintain performance and communication within the program. · Review paperwork (payroll forms, records, case notes) for accuracy of information and process. · Follow up with VR on any non-payments. · Review and approve timesheets and PTO requests for assigned staff. · Act as liaison between staff in your area and manager. · Consult with manager to give input on staff evaluations. Consult with manager on staffing needs. · Complete and conduct yearly Performance Reviews with assigned staff. · Lead disciplinary and performance improvement meetings as applicable · Conduct training for all DECI staff in your area of expertise as needed. · Take an active role in area organizations to advance or promote employment of people with disabilities. · Participate in Community Networking and advocating DECI services and programs with local organizations. · Maintain certification in First Aid, CPR and North Carolina behavior intervention techniques · Seek out information and associations to remain current with industry practices and methodology. · Substitute for other Program Services Staff as requested. · Participate in DECI-sponsored training as assigned and assist with training new staff. · Ability to navigate and input documentation and other needed information into the ENCORE database. · Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required or a related four-year degree preferred; may substitute equivalent related work experience in field such as social work, counseling, education, or vocational rehabilitation.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills as demonstrated by past job performance. Ability to collect, organize and analyze information.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people of all levels.
  • Good writing skills and proper use of grammar.
  • An understanding of basic behavior modification and task-training techniques.
  • An understanding of confidentiality and the rights of people with disabilities.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions independently, plan and organize work.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to schedule and prioritize assignments and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Exhibit the flexibility to adapt to varied requests and interrupted schedules
  • Minimum of a four-year degree and must have combination of education and experience to be considered a “Qualified Professional” under the MH/DD/SA definitions.
  • Fluency in English language to facilitate communication with individuals with disabilities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft Word and familiarity with Microsoft Access needed
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. work qualification
