About The Position

The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) is seeking a Program Representative to provide services related to unemployment insurance benefits and employment services. This role involves determining claims eligibility, assisting clients, and ensuring the accuracy of unemployment insurance benefits. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal and state laws regarding employment and unemployment insurance, along with excellent organizational skills.

Requirements

• Knowledge equivalent to four years of college in social/behavioral sciences or business; OR two years of experience as a department intermittent staff member and two years of college credits in social/behavioral sciences or business; OR four years as a department intermittent staff member.
• Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
• Ability to pass an Illinois State Police background check and self-disclosure of any criminal history.

Nice To Haves

• Experience assisting clients in an employment service program, social service program, or related area providing employment, human resource development, or social welfare services.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Program Representative for the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) under general supervision.
• Perform functions related to receipt, review, entry, analysis, and resolution of claims on benefit entitlement programs.
• Assist clients with various programs and services offered by IDES and partner agencies.
• Adjudicate monetary and nonmonetary benefit claim issues, providing eligibility determinations for claims.
• Advise clients on work attitudes, habits, relationships, and attire related to job referrals.
• Establish and maintain activity reports to demonstrate work activity and detail time charging.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
