About The Position

The Program Representative position at the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) is designed for an organized and results-oriented individual who will provide services related to unemployment insurance benefits. This role involves determining claims eligibility and assisting clients with various employment services, ensuring accuracy in UI benefits. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of federal and state laws regarding employment and UI eligibility, along with excellent organizational skills and experience in social service or employment programs.

Requirements

• Knowledge equivalent to four years of college in social/behavioral sciences or business; OR two years of experience as a department intermittent staff member and two years of college credits in social/behavioral sciences or business; OR four years as a department intermittent staff member.
• Ability to speak and write Spanish at a colloquial skill level for client interactions.
• Ability to travel for duties, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Program Representative for the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) under general supervision.
• Perform functions related to receipt, review, entry, analysis, and resolution of claims on benefit entitlement programs.
• Assist clients with various programs and services offered by IDES and partner agencies.
• Adjudicate monetary and nonmonetary benefit claim issues, providing eligibility determinations for claims.
• Advise clients on work attitudes, habits, relationships, and attire related to job referrals.
• Establish and maintain activity reports to demonstrate work activity and detail time charging.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
