About The Position

The Program Outreach Specialist 1 (NY HELPS) position is responsible for administering the Restaurant Meals Program (RMP) within the Employment and Income Support Programs division of the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). This role involves coordinating the statewide rollout of the program, monitoring agreements with participating establishments, and developing marketing strategies to promote the program. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills to effectively manage outreach activities and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Requirements

• Six years of professional experience in program promotion and representation
• A bachelor's degree may be substituted for up to four years of experience
• Experience in public relations, advertising, marketing, or promotion of public programs and services
• Experience in creating, scheduling, organizing, and promoting outreach activities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Statewide roll out of the Restaurant Meals Program (RMP)
• Monitor the RMP link and send New York State (NYS) agreement to new establishments on the list
• Review agreements before sending to OTDA Legal Affairs for execution
• Communicate with establishments upon NYS approval on next steps
• Follow up with restaurants to get decal and printed material after USDA approval
• Prepare listing for restaurant for the OTDA Public Information Office (PIO) to list on the State RMP website
• Review status of establishments that applied and status of application
• Develop marketing strategies and presentations for the program
• Assist in the development and administration of other related special projects, such as Anti-Hunger initiatives and other inter-agency work groups.
