The Program Operations Specialist - Credentialing at the University of Washington's School of Medicine is responsible for overseeing the operational and personnel activities of the Office of Medical Staff Appointments (OMSA). This role ensures effective credentialing and privileging services for medical staff members and new applicants, focusing on compliance with clinical regulations and policies. The position requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Independently analyze and manage credentialing processes for UW Medicine.
  • Manage new eLearning special and additional privileges as requested by providers.
  • Maintain and analyze clinical privilege forms with annual reviews from clinical department chairs and service chiefs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for routing credentialing forms through the UW Medicine health system.
  • Oversee and manage the process of Short-Term Temporary Privileges for visiting providers.
  • Manage Exempt Privileges for providers credentialed for 5 days or less.
  • Identify and assess proctoring cases to document competency for additional privileges.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Proxy Credentialing for Telemedicine across the WWAMI region.
  • Oversee Fast Track applications for emergency privileges.
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance to the core processes of Initial and Reappointments applications within OMSA.
  • Act as primary point of contact for Payors, Health Plans, and OMSA during regulatory audits.
  • Review files selected for compliance to meet audit and regulatory survey requirements.
  • Lead departmental process improvement projects and report on cost savings and efficiency increases.
  • Support with budgetary and resource planning needs.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and at least two years of credentialing experience.
  • Certification in NAMSS CPCS or CPMSM or ability to certify within two years of hire.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and exercise independent judgment.
  • Experience with regulatory audits and compliance processes.
  • Familiarity with Lean methodology for process improvement.
