About The Position

The incumbent is responsible for providing substantive technical support to the design, management, implementation and monitoring of IP programs and other project-based initiatives for the countries and intergovernmental organizations assigned. The incumbent further advises on and manages the planning and execution of the IP programs and initiatives of the Division.

Requirements

  • First-level university degree in law, economics, international relations or another relevant discipline.
  • At least six years of relevant professional experience in intellectual property and diplomatic engagement.
  • Experience in the production of communications materials and in the use of social media.
  • Experience working with Arab countries.
  • Experience in the design and management of development-focused events, activities and projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Substantive knowledge of project design, implementation and monitoring.
  • Sound knowledge of the business and administrative procedures of national or international IP institutions and understanding of broader IP and innovation ecosystem in the Arab region.
  • Sound judgment, with the capacity to swiftly assess complex and rapidly changing situations and developments.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Good knowledge of at least one of the WIPO's international registration systems.
  • Excellent diplomatic skills and ability to work with tact and discretion.
  • Excellent analytical, monitoring and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, AI-enabled applications, and online collaboration platforms.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and the adoption of emerging technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced university degree in law, international relations, development studies, economics or another relevant discipline.
  • Experience in international environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substantive input, advice and support the design management and implementation of IP projects and skills-building programs focused on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), creators, innovators, and communities to generate value through IP in a result-oriented, timely, cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Promote WIPO's strategies and plans that would ensure greater and more effective use of WIPO's Global IP services through targeted outreach to existing and potential users and establishment of partnerships.
  • Develop new projects, including preparing project and budget proposals, funding requests and outreach/visibility materials.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with stakeholders from the Arab region including Permanent Missions, IP Offices, IP users and other partner organizations.
  • Represent WIPO at regional and national meetings and participate in missions and briefings to identify opportunities and mobilize collaboration for further mandate implementation.
  • Prepare and revise technical reports, concept notes, briefings and talking points, related to IP technical assistance and/or diplomatic engagements.
  • Initiate and produce data and information collection and assist in the preparation of the Division's managerial reports including program and budget proposals, program performance reports, and the annual budget and work plan.
  • Create communication materials, case stories, and key messages to promote understanding of the value of IP for development and support the dissemination of these messages through digital platforms including websites and social media.
  • Undertake official missions in the context of the delivery of IP-related technical assistance to Member States and stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
