About The Position

This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Los Angeles Field Office Trade Division, located in Long Beach, California. In this Program Manager position, you will become a key member of a team of Homeland Security professionals managing a variety of agency-wide law enforcement programs. Typical work assignments include leading complex projects, planning, organizing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating the activities of the division, monitoring program accomplishments, and managing organizational changes.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
  • May be required to pass a background investigation.
  • Must adhere to the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience analyzing and evaluating management aspects of substantive, mission-oriented programs.
  • Experience developing administrative regulations or guidelines for the conduct of program operations.
  • Experience studying reports that contain findings and making recommendations of major significance to top management.

Responsibilities

  • Leading complex projects, often cutting across organizational/activity lines and identifying and resolving issues where no policy or precedence exists.
  • Planning, organizing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating the activities of the division.
  • Monitoring program accomplishments and identifying actual or potential problem areas, trends, merit and deficiency situations, areas of imbalance or other similar factors.
  • Determining goals and objectives that need additional emphasis; developing measures that evaluate performance, making recommendations for program improvement, and managing all resources as corporate assets.
  • Managing organizational changes or major change to the structure and content of the program or program segments.
