The Upward Bound Math Science Program at Boston University is a federally funded TRIO program designed to prepare low-income and first-generation college-bound students for success in higher education. Students typically enter the program in grades 9 or 10 and continue until they graduate from high school. The program offers a rigorous six-week summer residential experience, along with afternoon classes and tutoring during the academic year. The target high schools for this program include Boston Green Academy, Josiah Quincy Upper School, Chelsea High, and Charlestown High School, as well as public school students residing in specific neighborhoods such as Dorchester, East Boston, Mattapan, and Roxbury. The Program Manager for Upward Bound Math Science at Boston University holds both management and direct service responsibilities. This includes developing the program's curriculum and STEM-related activities, such as Summer Science Wednesdays and High School Vacation Week Laboratories. The Program Manager will collaborate with the Upward Bound program manager to hire, train, and supervise program teachers, provide college and financial aid application support, arrange college visits, and confer with teachers at target high schools regarding student achievement. Additionally, the Program Manager will manage participant academic assessments, create website content and social media connections across departments, and support the project director in preparing reports, recruiting participants, and liaising with parents and school staff.
