About The Position

UTHealth Houston is hiring for a full-time, benefits-eligible Program Manager, Research to join their team of professionals. The Program Manager will be responsible for training and managing a research team to coordinate and maintain excellence in initiating, executing, and managing process-related activities in clinical research. Must have a clear understanding of all research study protocols, maintain strong clinical practice, and compliance per university and sponsor requirements. Excellent communication skills with study staff, leadership, and sponsors are imperative in this role. This is a 100% on-site position M-F. This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science or a health administration related field.
  • Five years of applicable experience.
  • Depending on research may require advanced level grant writing skills.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON) may be required.
  • Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) by Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) may be required.
  • Certifications specific to the program required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the research agenda for the area.
  • Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors the progress of projects, and provides supervision and guidance to the research personnel, research nurses and administrative staff.
  • Facilitates collaboration between clinicians and research scientists, internal and external to the University.
  • Assists with the annual budget, negotiates service contracts, reports on progress and authorizes expenditures.
  • Informs upper management of key activities.
  • Assists in grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies.
  • May conduct or supervise training related to research for internal, hospital, and community groups.
  • Manages ongoing strategic plans for the area.
  • Communicates with community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes.
  • Prepares/makes oral presentations at professional meetings.
  • May also participate in committees as deemed appropriate for the department.
  • Manages Human Resources activities or gives direct input for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
