About The Position

The Princeton Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (AL Lab) is a newly established administrative unit dedicated to supporting and advancing high-impact AI-related research initiatives at Princeton University. The Program Manager for the Natural and Artificial Minds (NAM) initiative will play a pivotal role in providing administrative support for various research initiatives, including Princeton Language and Intelligence, AI for Accelerating Invention, and the NAM initiative itself. The NAM initiative focuses on leveraging advances in AI to study both natural and artificial minds, emphasizing learning, reasoning, decision-making, and action. The Program Manager will work closely with faculty, research scientists, post-doctoral fellows, research software engineers, and graduate students involved in the NAM initiative. Reporting directly to the AI Lab Executive Director, the Program Manager will oversee the operations of the NAM initiative, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the AI Lab. This role requires adaptability and the ability to implement new programs while fostering a flexible, team-oriented environment. The Program Manager will manage initiative budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of funds and resources, and will be instrumental in supporting research collaborations and events. Key responsibilities include strategic planning and administration, budget and financial management, research and event coordination, personnel management, and communications. The Program Manager will support the Director's vision for the initiative, assist with AI Lab seed funding efforts, oversee the planning and execution of events, and manage communications efforts, including website and social media updates. This position is crucial for fostering a dynamic and collegial environment that advances AI research at Princeton University.
