About The Position

The Program Manager IV - Legislative and Partnership Coordinator for the South Region is responsible for cultivating relationships with state elected officials, local municipal leaders, and agency partners to advance the mission of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). This role involves acting as a representative of the Legislative Affairs and Partnerships team, improving communications between agency staff and partners, and coordinating various initiatives and events. The position requires a flexible work schedule and travel throughout the state to meet with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in business administration, public administration, or related fields.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with DCR staff and partners.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn the rules, regulations, and policies governing DCR facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of effective verbal and written communication principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of work simplification methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for preparing emails, spreadsheets, presentations, and reports.
  • Ability to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate relationships with state elected officials, local municipal leaders, and agency partners.
  • Work in partnership with organizations and build coalitions to advance the mission of the agency.
  • Act as a representative of the Legislative Affairs and Partnerships team to internal and external audiences.
  • Collect and distribute key information internally throughout the Public and Policy Affairs division.
  • Create, maintain, and update a regional database of legislators and legislative staff contacts.
  • Work with staff to find opportunities for volunteers in parks and assist with volunteer group placements.
  • Promote and support DCR's annual day of stewardship and other special volunteer events.
  • Assist with the coordination of agency special events, public meetings, and news conferences.
  • Attend evening meetings as necessary.
