Salary Range: $101,400-138,285 The salary range listed is a guide for this position and may vary depending on experience, education, geographic location, and other qualifications. Develops and deploys best-in-class beryllium exposure management programs, systems and processes. Collaborates with Elmore, Delta, Tucson and Shoemakersville facility leadership and strategic EHS teams with OSHA beryllium regulations compliance to reduce the risk of beryllium sensitization and chronic beryllium disease. Co-leads the beryllium exposure aspects and mitigation associated with Materion’s occupational health and safety research efforts. Provides beryllium related product stewardship expertise to Materion toll vendors. Provides BMP support on new business opportunities. Maintains an effective communication process with the locations operational and maintenance organizations as well as determine CapX requirements. Provides training to facility employees and acts a technical expert on ventilation and Title V compliance. You will have the opportunity to: Responsible for overseeing the facility in complying with the beryllium aspects of Clean Air Act including Title V compliance. Understands compliance requirements for all air permit assessments and ensures the completion applications for new sources or existing source modifications for beryllium processes. Understands the basic tenets of ventilation and air pollution control device design, parametric monitoring, and operation. Completes necessary Title V reports, supports stack testing requirements, and maintains the site emission inventory. Prepares and submits environmental permits and plans in accordance with regulatory agency requirements and independently negotiates permit conditions with the agencies. Reviews, interprets, and evaluates environmental regulations and advises supervisors and management of the regulatory requirements and potential or imminent impacts to operations. Manages environmental projects, including waste management unit closures, investigation remediation, corrective action, and assessments. Leads environmental inspections and auditing activities of plant operations and prepares associated reports for these activities as assigned. Responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and conducting routine and non-routine environmental monitoring activities, investigations, and inspections involving air, soil, wastewater, storm water, and potable water systems. Lead the sustainability and improvement of environmental management system components and program elements as described in ISO 14001. Support and assist management with their incident investigation process: determine root cause (s), develop corrective actions, and conduct closure verification reviews. Support health and safety functions for the facility as a member of the site EHS department as needed. Engage with local stakeholders for opportunities to maintain public relations.

Requirements

  • BS in an EHS field and 10+ years of experience or a Master’s degree and 4 years of experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing air pollution control strategies in alignment with Title V compliance and beryllium management best practices.
  • Also includes experience assessing and understanding the beryllium worker protection model and science-based applications to reduce worker exposure, CDB, and beryllium sensitization.
  • In depth compliance knowledge of the following EPA regulations: Air permitting and compliance assurance.
  • Ventilation design, air pollution control operation and parametric monitoring.
  • Develops policies and procedures based on OSHA beryllium related regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines.
  • Makes recommendations to improve BMP performance based on interpretations and professional practices
  • Uses complicated environmental assessment equipment
  • Proficient in data verification, correlation and preparation of EHS reports
  • Performs calculations, data entry, data analysis, field monitoring and report writing
  • Acts a technical advisor to a number of Performance Materials locations
  • Develops and conducts BMP training
  • The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on Materion’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with Materion’s business requirements.
