About The Position

The Program Manager of Engineering Tools is a senior engineering position that focuses on delivering world-class asset management and strategy for a ~$125M+ portfolio of software developed and sustained for Gas Power Engineering and other Gas Power teams. The role’s primary scope includes serving as the Operational Program Manager of GPE’s largest portfolio of tools, encompassing over 1000 different engineering and enterprise applications, GPE’s overall Tools Strategy, and representative tool functionality collaboration for budget-driven needs. Additionally, the position owns GPE’s tool intake process, where annual business funding requests exceed $200M, to vet out planned and emergent software needs while pushing prioritization decisions that bring the funded tool portfolio into alignment with operational targets. The Program Manager will collaborate cross-functionally across Engineering, Operations, DT, Executive Leadership, Sourcing and Business Pillars to progress goals, such as engaging in contract negotiations with vendors, and pursuing holistic product road maps that optimize the tools Gas Power invests in. Role coverage includes taking part in GE Vernova-wide tool strategies where it makes sense and the potential to expand PM role assignment to other tool programs, like GPE’s Fixed Production Cost-funded AI tools.

Requirements

  • Major experience in project management or operations, with preferable focus in engineering and/or other software tools and technologies
  • Experience with software asset management processes, tools, and capacity planning
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in STEM from an accredited university or college preferred OR equivalent knowledge and experience

  • Holds general engineering tools knowledge of Enterprise Tools (e.g. ERP, PLM, CSM, MES, etc.), CAD/CAE, Automation/ML/AI, and/or other Systems Tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Engineering’s Fixed Production Cost (FPC) Tools Program operationally, applying internal controls to monitor and report on program health, interfacing with Value Streams on strategy, aligning with DT, leadership, and others on budget allocations, and working to continuously improve awareness, effectiveness, and efficiency of program activities.
  • Act as the business voice to execute $35MM+ annual software purchase/renewal scope for Gas Power and other GE Vernova businesses. This includes providing forecast intel and help in resolving issues preventing timely, adequate, and optimized license and maintenance purchases, in coordination with DT and others.
  • Work closely with the Engineering, other Business teams, and IT managers to understand software requirements and with Operations, Key Stakeholders, and other Leaders to understand strategic roadmaps to drive quality + savings opportunities.
  • Own the Engineering tools intake process for planned and emergent software needs, seeking to increasingly apply lean methodology to process execution, engagement, coordination, and transparency, seeing actions to completion.
  • Maintain accurate financial pacing for GPE’s Fixed Production Cost tool funding.
  • Drive timely completion of GE Vernova-wide activities, seeking alignment for Gas Power Engineering, and coordinating appropriately to address software risks and needs.
  • Act as an Engineering tools representative for business transformational strategies.
  • Drive a consistent communication and interaction rhythm on Tool program status and operational improvements with colleagues, stakeholders, and leadership.
