About The Position

We are seeking a qualified Program Manager, Data Privacy & AI Governance . As a leader within Carvana’s Privacy, Data & AI Governance Team, you’ll be responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and execution of Carvana’s Privacy Program. You will leverage your technical privacy and process-building experience to ensure proper privacy controls are in place for Carvana’s business initiatives involving various levels of risk. You will closely collaborate with legal privacy and compliance counterparts, including Associate General Counsel, Senior Counsel, as well as Data Privacy and AI Governance leadership, Cybersecurity, and other colleagues to strategically shape Carvana’s Privacy Program and ensure its operational success. You will shepherd the handling and prioritization of various projects and assignments related to the development, maintenance, and execution of Carvana’s Privacy Program, and represent the Data Privacy and AI Governance team in day to day activities involving Carvana business, legal, and technology stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Privacy or Governance credentials and certifications, such as CIPT, CIPM, CIPP/US, or AIGP.
  • Hands on experience with Data Privacy and Governance tools.
  • Strong knowledge of privacy-related technologies (cookies, pixels, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • A proactive self-starter who embraces Carvana values
  • Highly attentive to detail and to information accuracy
  • An effective verbal and written communicator
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-changing priorities
  • Familiar with data warehousing and analytics platforms
  • The successful candidate is savvy in a technical and business environment, comfortable working with cross-functional teams of all sizes and focuses, highly attentive to detail, focused on successfully serving partners, and a problem solver.
  • This position requires frequent interaction with Carvana’s business, technology, engineering, security, and legal teams and requires clear communication that presents complex information in a concise and easy-to-understand manner.
  • The successful Program Manager, Data Privacy & AI Governance is team-oriented and highly attentive to detail, focused on successfully serving business partners, a problem solver, and comfortable with ambiguity while simultaneously managing and prioritizing multiple high-priority projects of all sizes.
  • This position requires an understanding of Carvana’s organizational goals and priorities, and an appreciation of how the Data Privacy & AI Governance Team’s efforts can support the success of those initiatives.
  • This position requires frequent interaction with Carvana’s legal and business teams and requires clear communication that presents complex information in a concise and easy-to-understand manner.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of Carvana business processes and systems.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of technical elements of Carvana’s Privacy Programs and processes to ensure compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations.
  • Lead the automation and maintenance of workflows within our Privacy Tools to support privacy request response and Cookie/Pixel management.
  • Work with Privacy Counsel to identify and advise on potential privacy compliance gaps across the company, developing and implementing solutions to address the same.
  • Develop, maintain, and update processes involving the intake and handling of privacy rights requests and impact and/or risk assessments.
  • Establish and maintain excellent communication and positive relationships with legal, technical, and business partners to ensure successful outcomes concerning privacy compliance obligations and strategic business objectives.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, data inventories, and data mapping records.
  • Work with team members to conduct regular audits of data processes and workflows across platforms and systems to identify and address gaps in data governance and privacy compliance.
  • Coordinate team members’ work involving privacy and governance issues and tasks, sequencing work based on regulatory risk, business priority, and technical dependencies.
  • Drive data lifecycle initiatives, specifically minimization and retention practices, to reduce legal liability without compromising data-driven business insights.
  • Define success metrics, milestones, and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor SLAs and support operational efficiencies.
  • Support stakeholder audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal reviews.
