About The Position

Responsibilities

  • Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium-sized department or program.
  • Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
  • Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
  • Prepares or participates in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, and other documentation.
  • Reviews reports of budgets and activities.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Administers grants and grant-related communications, scholarships, and other operations.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Serves as property custodian for the department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Oversees office front desk, departmental suites, and work room operations.
  • Revamps office appearance to modern standards, including during holidays.
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates the work of student employees, including reviewing resumes and scheduling interviews.
  • Provides training to student employees in work details.
  • Prepares student employee schedules.
  • Communicates effectively with all personnel and provides excellent customer service.
  • Receives, responds, and resolves customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Assists in-person visitors and phone inquiries by providing general information.
  • Oversees daily mail and distribution in the mailroom.
  • Ensures work room is fully stocked and organized.
  • Processes office supplies requests and orders.
  • Assists in department event preparation.
  • Processes vouchers for payment and creates requisitions.
  • Processes travel reimbursements and ensures compliance with UH travel policies.
  • Submits FIXIT work orders.
  • Serves as the Property Custodian with annual inventory.
  • Proactively identifies process improvement opportunities.
