About The Position

The Program Intern will contribute to BEAM Circular’s mission by supporting community engagement, innovation, and business development initiatives. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in sustainability initiatives, event coordination, and cross-functional teamwork in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. The intern will assist with planning and executing events, managing project data and reporting tools, and designing outreach materials. This role requires collaboration across teams to ensure smooth project execution - from initial planning through post-event follow-up - and will provide both creative and administrative support to engage community members, partners, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Availability to commit to the internship for 3 months preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Canva and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.) to create content, manage information, and support collaboration.
  • Ability to understand and work with scientific terminology related to bioeconomy and sustainability, with training provided as needed.
  • Capacity to develop strong partnerships with diverse stakeholders across industry, government, and education sectors.
  • Currently pursuing, recently completed, or possessing equivalent experience in a science, sustainability, or technology-related field preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to translate complex content into accessible information for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with minimal supervision and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to attend in-person meetings across the North San Joaquin Valley (San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced counties).
  • Currently pursuing, recently completed, or possessing equivalent experience in Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (paid, volunteer, or academic) in event coordination, community engagement, or project support preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience in event planning and execution, from concept development to post-event evaluation.
  • Develop skills in data management, spreadsheet tracking, and project reporting to support organizational decision-making.
  • Strengthen community engagement and public outreach abilities through active participation in local events and stakeholder interactions.
  • Build creative communication skills by designing professional flyers, presentations, and marketing materials using Canva.
  • Expand cross-functional collaboration experience by supporting business development, innovation, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Learn to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment that requires adaptability, problem-solving, and teamwork across diverse projects.
  • May operate a vehicle for company business (which requires a valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation).
  • Comply with all BEAM Circular policies and procedures, including workplace safety, reporting work-related injuries, and infection control protocols.
  • Maintain awareness of and help prevent potential safety risks for staff, clients, and others.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet organizational needs.
